2023 AMSAF Visionary Award Winner

The Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation presented its 2023 Visionary Award to the Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Team for its work in rider education, promoting safety and awareness for motorcyclists, and for its positive influence on the Arizona motorcycling community.

Purpose and Mission

The Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Team was established in 1985 with the purpose of presenting to the public a positive image of motorcycling and motorcycle safety, and to make friends for fun and enjoyment. The team accomplishes these goals through participation in competition and performances, demonstrating safe motorcycling by example and education, and by being active participants in the motorcycling community. The Team incorporated in 1989 as a non-profit organization.

Competition Record

The Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Team has been competing Nationally since 1986. Our record of four National Titles and one International Championship points out the level of commitment and dedication to excellence displayed by both past and present members and is a hallmark of the Team.

Performances, Parades, and Training

The Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Team performs at various local, regional, state, and national venues.  The Team is active in supporting local motorcycling organizations as well as the entire Motorcycling community. Each year the Team holds three Skill Enhancement Programs, each consisting of six, two-hour sessions, and one all day Skill Enhancement Session. Our Skill Enhancement is open to all riders and all motorcycles, and provides a basis for safe, skillful riding. The Team is also active with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to promote motorcycle safety in all aspects.

Membership

Membership on the team is open to any motorcyclist riding a machine suitable for performance routines and maneuvers - usually a larger, "full-dress" motorcycle. Prospective members must be sponsored by an existing member in good standing. Prospective members must demonstrate the desire and dedication required to properly support the stated goals and objectives of the Team.

The Team practices every Monday evening at the Greyhound Park, 38th St and Washington. We welcome you to come down, see what the Team is all about, and join us in a lot of fun and hard work. We start at 6:30PM sharp so arrive a little early to meet and talk with the members.

History

The Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Team promotes safe riding skills by offering Free-to-Attend Skill Enhancement sessions. They can offer this free opportunity through our help from our sponsors and from the generosity of our attendees through donations.

Our Skill Enhancement is open to all motorcycle riders, and all makes of motorcycles except trikes and bikes with sidecars. Space is limited to the first forty riders that register.

The Drill Team started in 1985 and from 85 through 94 ran classes nonstop all year. From 94 to 2013 they ran six week courses
three times a year along with usually a couple one day classes in the spring and fall.  From 2014 to present they do two six week courses a year and two 4-week courses. They have been able to help over three thousand students.

Robert Gladden

2022 AMSAF Visionary Award Winner

The Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation presented its 2022 Visionary Award to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for its work in rider education, promoting safety and awareness for motorcyclists, and for its positive influence on the Arizona motorcycling community.

“The Motorcycle Safety Foundation continues to raise the bar on rider training and education,” said Mick Degn, executive director of AMSAF. “The organization is always working to improve its curricula, create development opportunities for RiderCoaches, and to help all riders ride their best.”

MSF was honored at AMSAF’s annual Share the Road & Riding for the Long-Haul fundraiser in May. More than 300 people from Arizona’s motorcycle, law enforcement, and medical communities attended the event.

AMSAF has awarded more than 4,500 scholarships for motorcycle training and 1,300 grants for helmet purchases. Additionally, AMSAF works with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to help raise motorcycle awareness among Arizona road users.

Nationwide, more than 9 million riders have enrolled in MSF RiderCourses since 1974. In 2020, over 11,350 Arizona riders took a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course, including the Basic RiderCourse, Basic RiderCourse 2, and Advanced RiderCourse offerings. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles recognizes MSF BRC and BRC2 as license waiver courses.

“The Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation is a great example of what can happen when diverse communities work together,” said Rob Gladden, vice president of training operations for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. “We are grateful for our strong partnership and look forward to our continued collaboration to provide quality motorcycle rider education for riders and potential riders in Arizona.”

The Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation was created in 2011 to promote motorcycle awareness and to help riders find proper training. Each year, AMSAF has presented a Visionary Award to an individual or organization involved in promoting safety and awareness, helping to reduce crashes and fatalities.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation, the country’s leading safety resource and advocate for motorcyclists, creates education and training systems for riders of every experience level. For those looking to get into riding, formal motorcycle training, such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic RiderCourse, is among the best ways to learn. The MSF also offers refresher courses and advanced skills courses for experienced riders.

Mark Breyer

Alexis Breyer-Owners

Breyer Law

2021 AMSAF Visionary Award Winner

Mark and Alexis Breyer founded The Husband and Wife Law Team 25 years ago. Well, they actually founded “Breyer Law Offices” 25 years ago and Mark wanted to be the lead attorney. The mistake in this thinking was immediately recognized and repeatedly pointed out by none other than Alexis’s father. He repeatedly explained to Mark that having “The Husband and Wife Law Team” would reassure people they were in good hands. That is what he said. What he meant was that Alexis needed to be prominently displayed as the key member of the law
practice as often as possible.

They quickly came to see all of the sufferings of their clients and wanted to do more than just help those people achieve a great legal outcome; they wanted to find ways to help people avoid ever getting hurt and to recognize those who are not fully appreciated. From participating in charity events, sponsoring Teacher Appreciation events for 10 years, holding community carnivals and dinners, and in so many other ways The Husband and Wife Law Team has had the opportunity to help.

Breyer Law stated: But in the attempt to achieve the goal of helping people avoid ever getting hurt, perhaps no other effort has been as rewarding as AMSAF.

Mark and Alexis appreciate the opportunity to have worked with this incredible organization that has raised so much money and devoted so many hours. There are people alive today because this organization was founded.

And for all of the efforts made to provide those who have been injured with an unmatched combination of legal results and customer service, nothing can be more rewarding than helping riders avoid injury in the first place. And, for that, The Husband and Wife Law Team are so thankful to AMSAF for all this organization does.

Mark has served as Chairman and on the on the AMSAF Executive Board for 9 years.

  Alberto Gutier

DIRECTOR OF HIGHWAY SAFETY

GOHS

2020 AMSAF Visionary Award Winner

This award we tried to give out in 2020 but due to COVID we had to wait. The Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety is the focal point for highway safety issues in Arizona. GOHS provides leadership by developing, promoting and coordinating programs; influencing public and private policy; and increasing public awareness of highway safety. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has supported AMSAF through multiple grants in motorcycle training and helmet assistance to help promote safety and awareness. The Director, Alberto Gutier has been instrumental in helping to reduce crashes and fatalities in Arizona and has taken the lead in helping to reduce or eliminate Distracted Driving. On a personal note I have had the fortune to work with Alberto for a number of years and I have never seen anyone work as hard as he does to help the State, Community and Police. He has helped the Motorcycle Community to be safer in so many ways. We thank him for his passion, trust and desire to do everything he can for the Community.
