Mick L. Degn

Executive Director / Founding Board Member

Mick Degn was the lobbyist for the Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona (MMA) as well as benefit chairman for the El Zaribah Shrine, where he helped to raise thousands of dollars to help the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Degn, formerly a senior level general manager, spent 32 years with Cardinal Healthcare as vice president of operations responsible for a 48-distribution center network and over $1 billion in profit and loss responsibility. In addition, he was the owner of Degn Consulting Services, L.L.C. and Skunk Work Motorsports, Inc. He presently holds the position of project leader for the Arizona Strategic Highway Safety Plan (AZSHSP) regarding motorcycles and has held the position of Board Chairman of the Arizona Motorcycle Safety Awareness Council (AMSAC), a position appointed by the Governor of Arizona.
Degn, who has a degree from Capital University, is a motorcycle enthusiast who rides a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic and is a member of the El Zaribah Shriners motorcycle Unit. He also is a member of the Freemasons. Degn works diligently to bring motorcycle safety and awareness to the State of Arizona.

Thomas P. Ritter

Treasurer / Founding Board Member

With 30 years of management experience, Tom Ritter retired from Aerostar Aerospace Inc. as senior manufacturing engineer. He currently is is co-owner and CEO of Accessories by Karen, L.L.C., a wholesale jewelry business. He is the treasurer of Shriners “Night of the Child” and past treasurer of El Zaribah Shrine’s motorcycle unit. Ritter also is an avid motorcycle rider with more than 40 years of riding experience and is involved in the Shriners drill team and Run for the Wall.

Ritter holds an Associate in Science degree in computer science/business and a Bachelor of Science Degree in manufacturing engineering from El Camino College and extension courses from University of California at Los Angeles. In addition, he holds a certificate instructors credentials permit from Maricopa County Community College and the State of Arizona along with numerous certificate of achievements.

Joseph Hoodak

Board Member/Founding Board Member

Joe Hoodak is retired from America West Airlines/US Airways as manager of pilot training technology. He spent 18 years of his career with the airlines. Hoodak was training course developer, pilot instructor and spent 11 years in management for the pilot training department. He was a member of the airline merger and transition team between America West Airlines and US Airways.

Hoodak, a veteran, served eight years in the United States Air Force. His education includes Mira Costa College, Victor Valley College, Eastern Washington University and Glendale Community College. Hoodak has been a motorcycle rider for more than 45 years. He currently rides a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. A life service member of Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona of Arizona (MMA), he served as both the state membership officer and motorcycle patriot editor.

Hoodak is a founding board member and served as vice chairman, webmaster and scholarship director of AMSAF until May 2015.  He remains active with Arizona motorcycle rights issues and is an active advocate for motorcycle safety and awareness. He continues to stay involved with veteran organizations as a volunteer.

Michele Osborn

Founding Charter Member

Michele Osborn was an AMSAF founding board member and later an advisory board member and secretary. She is the owner of Arizona Motorcycle Towing, L.L.C. In previous positions, she was owner/operator of Custom Landscape and Design Co., store manager or Smith/Kroger’s/Fry’s, manager of Marvel Masonry and head bank teller for First American National Bank.

Osborn is married with three children and in her spare time volunteers for:
• Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona
• Multiple committees for school sports
• “The Choking Game” awareness program facilitator
• Multiple church needs

Osborn is an avid motorcycle rider and is very active in the Motorcycle community and with her family.

Tom Corr

Founding Charter Member

Tom Corr was an AMSAF founding board member and later an advisory board member. Corr has served as area field manager for U-Haul of Southern Arizona since 2003. In addition to his current position, he was chairman of the Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona (MMAA) from 2009 to 2013, which has membership in excess of 900 motorcycle riders.

In addition, Corr was owner/editor of a motorcycle enthusiasts’ publication from 2003 to 2008. He is an avid motorcyclist and considers himself to be a numismatist and philatelist. In his spare time, Corr’s hobbies include collecting guns, depression era cast iron motorcycle toys (early litho tin type motorcycle toys) and biker exploitation films.

Ron Ariel

Ron Arieli is president of T.E.A.M., Arizona motorcyclist training centers. T.E.A.M. Arizona is and has been the leader in motorcycle rider education in Arizona for more than 17 years. He has served as chairman of the Arizona Motorcycle Advisory Council (AMSAC) and is an active advocate for motorcycle safety and awareness.

Arieli’s current projects include working with AZDOT/MVD to improve rider training delivery to the general public, raising funds to subsidize the cost of rider education, educating the public as to the importance of rider training and awareness of motorcyclists, riding skill improvement and the ongoing practice of life saving regimen for all riders. Arieli is active in charitable causes and events and recently was honored by the Shriners for his contribution to the Shriners Hospitals for Children for the past eight years.

Warren Levenbaum

Warren Levenbaum was an AMSAF founding board member and later an advisory board member.

Levenbaum is managing partner of Levenbaum & Cohen PLC. He holds bar admissions from Arizona State Bar-1973, U.S. District Court, District of Arizona-1975 and U.S. Supreme Court-1975. His education includes Suffolk University Law School, Boston, Mass., J.D., Doctor of Jurisprudence, 1973 and Boston University, Boston, Mass, B.A. Bachelor of Arts, Economics, 1968.

Jerry Weiers

Honorable Founding Board Member

Jerry Weiers was an AMSAF founding board member and later an advisory board member. He served four full terms in the Arizona State Legislature. During his tenure as a state representative, Weiers chaired the Natural Resources and Military Affairs and Public Safety (MAPS) committees and finally, during his last two years, served as rules chairman. Weiers also served Arizona on the National Conference of State Legislatures Military Sustainability Task Force and helped lead efforts to bring the F-35 to Luke Air Force Base, solidifying the critical economic engine for Glendale.

Glendale Mayor Weiers has a long and impressive record of community service and has won recognition for his work on behalf of sportsmen, motorcyclists and military veterans groups, to name a few. Weiers first moved to Arizona in 1966. He and wife Sandy have been married for more than 30 years and have a daughter; they recently became grandparents. Weiers is an accomplished pilot and is a member of the civil air patrol with more than two decades of flying experience. He owns a hanger and flies out of his home base at the Glendale Airport.
